Today I made bread crumbs. I have a confession to make...I am the mom that turns the heels of the bread to the inside (so my kids/husb don't notice that they are eating the heel) Then I make grill cheese sandwiches...I absolutely hate wasting food!
So when I saw that SnoWhite at http://joyinmykitchen.blogspot.com/ makes her own breadcrumbs from the hard outside parts of the bread I thought to myself that is a GREAT idea!
I used the homemade bread end pieces that are always too hard for anybody's liking and tossed them into my mini food processor. I am storing them in the freezer in a ziplock freezer bag ready for my next recipe. No more sneaking heels for me...No more buying breadcrumbs! And...I'm pretty sure the husb had figured out my sneaky ways so he will definitely be appreciative :O)
